Dickens and Illustration

Today's session is on Dickens and his illustrators, and more broadly on the place of illustration in the book culture of the nineteenth-century. The artist with whom Dickens is most closely associated, of course, is Hablot Browne, or Phiz: Victorian Web host the whole of Michael Steig's excellent 1971 monograph Dickens and Phiz.
